Book(let)s: Nothing Up My Sleeve
Conceived as an extension of the exhibition Nothing Up My Sleeve: An exhibition based on the work of Stuart Sherman, this catalog is defined primarily by it's organization into two distinct but intimately related parts. Designed to be read in 2 directions, one side features images and essays related to the performance artist Stuart Sherman, and on the other is an eclectic mix of historical and contemporary artists, architects, and performers whose work relates in different ways to core ideas in Sherman's work.
The catalog features the work of Harry Houdini, James Lee Byars, Stefanie Victor, Matthew Brannon, SITE Projects, KIOSK, SUPERSTUDIO, Carol Bove, Eileen Gray, Katarina Burin, Vaginal Davis, Little Switzerland, Nancy Barton, Michael Glass, Alison Sommers, Eric Van Speights, and Andy Kaufman.
It includes previously published essays by John Matturri (1978) and Bérénice Reynaud (October, 1979); new essays by Lia Gangitano, Molly McGarry, Mark Bradford and Jonathan Berger; interviews with SITE Projects and Piero Frasinelli and Sandro Poli of SUPERSTUDIO.
