New/s –– I recently relocated from the familiar, quasi-urban surroundings of New Haven, Connecticut, to the multicultural suburban enclave of Woodside in Queens, New York. In a strange reversal I find myself surrounded by luscious vegetation while only a stone's throw away from the upper east side. Down the road is Sunnyside Gardens, a historical housing development inspired by the English Garden City movement and developed by figures including Eleanor Roosevelt and Lewis Mumford (a precursor of sorts to the more famous Case Study Houses on the west coast).
